This was a special celebration of Geoff Wood’s 80th birthday and as Organiser of the club for over 25 years. The room was packed out.

Geoff the story-teller ...

It was a night to remember, and a pleasure to see so many old friends and faces from the past, all with a story to retell about Geoff; and of course Geoff delighted us with his own individual style of relating a tale to make us laugh out loud and blush to our boots.

Retiring? - not so, too much to do!

Geoff is going to take a lower profile in the Autumn to spend more time with his vintage car, a 1925 Bentley; his canoes, he’s off to Scotland again in the summer; and to follow the French Tour de France, but in his camper van! He was a very good cyclist in his day - and rode in the first three Round Britain Road Races alongside Jimmy Saville would you believe.

In future he will continue to be involved with the club, but is retiring from some of the chores. Geoff has been involved with the club since its inception 42 years ago, and has been the organiser for at least the last 25 years or so. Not a bad stint.
